When a spouse/partner hire is anticipated, the benefits to the following parties should be considered:

• The potential new hire or faculty member or administrator being considered for retention
• The spouse/partner
• The department offering a position to a new hire or seeking to retain an existing faculty member or administrator
• The department that will house the accompanying spouse/partner
• The University as a whole
