Special Course Fees
“Special Course Fees” are additional charges for specific classes or courses that have demonstrably higher costs of delivering instruction overall because of the need for or use of special equipment, supplies, technology, key personnel.
Course Fees are not subject to the Revenue Administrative Service Charge but are subject to the Expenditure Based Administrative Service charge of 1% which is assessed on all expenditures.
University Fees Committee
The University Fees Committee was created in 1989 in response to Arizona Board of Regents action transferring the authority for approval to the Provost for special class fees and deposits of $50 and less. (The Board now retains the authority to approve fees over $100 and to approve fees in smaller amounts that are outside established guidelines.)
The University Fees Committee is comprised of two undergraduate students, two graduate students, three faculty and the Bursar. The University Fees Committee meets as needed to review requests for special class fees, deposits and academically related non-course fees and provides a recommendation for appropriate action.
