Natalie Iannuzo
I am a cell biologist with expertise in pulmonary epithelial biology and infectious diseases. I obtained my PhD in Molecular Medicine from the University of Arizona in 2023. My current research focuses on how rhinovirus (the virus that causes the common cold) affects the pulmonary epithelium and alters host innate immune responses.
My passion for teaching started when I was a teaching assistant (TA) for a graduate-level Clinical and Translational Medicine class during my PhD. I enjoyed mentoring students and watching them excel in their studies. Since then, I have been a TA for other graduate-level cell biology courses and I am currently teaching a science communication course in the department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. My goal is to combine my passions for research and teaching in order to mentor the next generation of scientists and students. I am excited and honored to be a part of the 2023-2024 CIRTL Postdoc Pathways Program. During this program, I would like to gain experience in developing active learning-based teaching methods, and develop teaching methods that engage students in the classroom.
