Dr. Ruiz-Gonzalez is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Medical Imaging. She has an undergraduate degree in Physics from UASLP (Mexico) and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona. Her work focuses on the development of novel gamma-ray imaging technology. She is particularly interested in light sensor signal processing for medical imaging systems, which includes the development of analog-to-digital conversion methods and parameter estimation methods programmed in embedded systems. Her current project consists of the design and development of the readout and control electronics for a human brain gamma-ray imaging system.

As a postdoc pathways fellow, she is also interested in developing her approach to inclusive pedagogy, particularly in understanding and improving the experience of women and Hispanic/Latino students in STEM fields.
